Nursery Information

Welcome to Carr Infant School Nursery!

Our teacher led Nursery offers high quality care and education for children aged 3 - 4. Children are eligible for a place within nursery the term after their 3rd birthday, and we have three main intakes per year - the start of the Autumn Term in September, the Spring Term in January and the Summer Term in April. If you are unsure when your child would be eligible to start, please do make contact with the school office who will be happy to help on 01904 565140 or via email at carrinfants.school@york.gov.uk

Once children turn three they are entitled to 15 hours free early years education. Children accessing 15 hour places will be offered morning only places (Monday-Friday, 8.45am - 11.45am).

Families who are eligible for extended funding, 30hours, will be offered to attend full days (Monday-Friday, 8.45am - 2.45pm).

There is no flexibility of sessions. We are currently able to offer some additional paid sessions (where there are available places). If your child is to attend morning sessions and you wish to extend this to one or more full days, we may be able to offer additional paid sessions for this. Please contact the school office regarding availability and pricing.

Children within Nursery are able to access our wrap around care provision. Wrap around care is run by familiar adults who already work within school during the day. Children will be cared for in a fun, friendly and nurturing environment. They will have access to indoor and outdoor space, with a variety of activities, resources and play equipment. Wrap around care starts from 7.30am and runs until 6pm, for further information please contact the school office or use the following link: https://www.carrinfantschool.co.uk/wrap-around-care/

Children with in our Nursery benefit from learning both indoors and out, with a wide range of resources and activities available for them to access independently. The Nursery teacher, alongside experienced and caring staff, carefully plan learning opportunities through play and are on hand to deliver some direct teaching as a large group, smaller groups or a 1:1 basis.

Our Nursery team work closely with you as the children's parents and carers and share the children's progress through an online learning journal. We have provision that is suitable for ALL children, whatever their needs, and benefit from an experienced Special Needs Co-ordinator within school. Our Nursery environment is both challenging and supportive and a place where all children can flourish.
