Equality Statement
Equality Targets 2025-2028
Objective 1: Supporting Emotional Well-Being and Self-Regulation
Why we have chosen this objective:
We want to ensure that our curriculum and wider school provision enable pupils to understand and express their emotions while developing healthy strategies for self-regulation and positive mental health. When children feel safe and emotionally supported, they are more ready to learn and reach their full potential.
How we will achieve this:
- Embedding evidence-based approaches to support social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
- Developing whole-class and school-wide strategies alongside targeted nurture provision for pupils with more complex SEMH needs.
- Reviewing our PSHE curriculum to ensure that it remains relevant and aligns with the most up-to-date evidence and best practice.
- Working closely with external agencies, including the NHS Mental Health Support Team (MHST), to provide high-quality staff training and parent/carer support.
Objective 2: Ensuring a Representative and Inclusive Curriculum
Why we have chosen this objective:
Carr Infant School is a diverse and welcoming community where multiple languages and cultures are represented. We want all pupils to feel valued and confident in their identities while developing a deep understanding of the wider world. A curriculum that reflects and celebrates diversity helps children feel included, engaged, and able to achieve their full potential.
How we will achieve this:
- Ensuring our curriculum provides meaningful opportunities to learn about different cultures, beliefs, and life experiences.
- Actively challenging stereotypes across all subjects, ensuring our teaching reflects the diverse world our children live in.
- Reviewing our PSHE curriculum to ensure topics on identity, stereotypes, and relationships are relevant and age-appropriate.
- Strengthening our engagement with parents and carers to ensure their voices help shape our inclusive curriculum.
By embedding these values across our curriculum and wider school life, we aim to create an environment where all children feel seen, respected, and empowered to reach their full potential.
