Uniform
School Uniform Expectations
At Carr Infant School, we believe that wearing a school uniform promotes a sense of pride, belonging, and high expectations. Our uniform helps to:
- Promote high standards for learning, behaviour, and appearance.
- Encourage pride in the school and a sense of community identity.
- Support a strong work ethic by ensuring children wear appropriate clothing for learning.
- Ensure a consistent and recognisable identity within the wider community.
All pupils, including those in Nursery, are expected to wear the school uniform every day. All clothing should be clearly marked with the child’s name.

Children should come to school wearing their PE kit on PE days.
Jewellery and Watches
For safety reasons, we request that jewellery is not worn to school, except for:
- Small stud earrings.
- Sensible time-telling watches (toy watches should be kept for home use).
- Smartwatches are not permitted in school.
Earrings and PE:
- Earrings must be removed for PE sessions.
- If a child’s ears have been recently pierced (within 6 weeks), parents should tape up the earrings before school and sign a waiver in the school office to carry out PE.
- If a child arrives without their earrings taped, they will be unable to take part in PE.
- To avoid issues, we recommend getting ears pierced at the start of the summer holidays.
Hair for PE:
- In line with AFPE (Association for PE) health and safety guidance, hair must be tied back during PE sessions.
Book Bags
We recommend that children bring a book bag to school each day. School-branded book bags can be purchased from our school uniform shop Get Branded. Alternative book bags are available from most supermarkets. Book bags are needed to ensure they can be easily stored in classrooms and cloakrooms.
A single keyring can put on book bags to help children identify their bags.
From September 2005, backpacks will no longer be allowed due to storage issues in the classrooms.
Where to Buy Uniform
- Reasonably priced uniform can be purchased from most supermarkets.
- Branded uniform can be bought from Get Branded.
We appreciate the support of parents and carers in ensuring that children wear the correct school uniform and are ready for learning every day.
